Get Involved

Every contribution, big or small, strengthens our community.

JR Canines is powered by neighbors who care. Whether you have a few hours a month, a special skill to share, or simply want to be a good neighbor, there's a meaningful way for you to contribute.

Ways to Help

🙋 Volunteer Your Time

Volunteers are the heart of JR Canines. We need people to help with park cleanups, organize educational workshops, staff occasional events, and assist with administrative tasks like updating our contact lists or designing simple flyers.

Typical volunteer activities include:

  • Raking, weeding, and general maintenance at the dog park
  • Helping set up and facilitate training workshops
  • Greeting new residents and sharing information about JR Canines
  • Assisting with fundraising efforts or community events
  • Occasionally helping a neighbor with dog walking during emergencies

No long-term commitment required—contribute as your schedule allows.

🛠️ Share Your Skills

Do you have professional expertise or a hobby that could benefit JR Canines? We're always looking for skilled volunteers who can contribute in specialized ways.

Skills we value:

  • Dog training: Lead workshops or mentor new dog owners
  • Landscaping or grounds maintenance: Improve park spaces
  • Carpentry or handyman work: Build or repair park infrastructure
  • Accounting or bookkeeping: Help manage our finances transparently
  • Legal or nonprofit expertise: Advise on governance or compliance
  • Writing or graphic design: Create educational materials or signage

Your expertise can make a tangible difference.

📢 Spread the Word

Sometimes the most valuable thing you can do is simply talk to your neighbors. Many residents don't yet know about JR Canines, our programs, or how they can benefit from or contribute to our work.

Ways to spread the word:

  • Mention JR Canines to new neighbors who have dogs
  • Share information about upcoming workshops or events
  • Encourage responsible dog ownership and park etiquette in casual conversations
  • Invite a neighbor to join you at the dog park

Building awareness is building community.

💚 Make a Financial Contribution

Financial donations help us fund park improvements, purchase supplies for training workshops, maintain waste stations, and cover basic administrative costs like insurance and filing fees.

Every dollar goes directly to programs that serve Juniper Ridge Resort. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your donation is tax-deductible.

Whether you give $10 or $100, your generosity makes a real difference.

🏡 Be a Responsible Dog Owner

One of the simplest and most impactful ways to support JR Canines is to model responsible dog ownership. When everyone does their part, the entire community benefits.

Responsible ownership means:

  • Always picking up after your dog
  • Keeping your dog leashed where required
  • Training your dog to be calm and well-behaved
  • Respecting other people and dogs at the park
  • Ensuring your dog is healthy, vaccinated, and not aggressive

Leading by example inspires others to do the same.

📧 Stay Connected

Even if you can't volunteer or donate right now, you can still stay informed about JR Canines activities, upcoming events, and ways to help in the future.

By staying connected, you'll know when we need extra hands for a park cleanup, when we're hosting a training workshop, or when there's a special project you might want to support.

Being part of the network means you're ready to help when the moment is right.

What Volunteering Looks Like

Volunteering with JR Canines is informal, flexible, and community-focused. We're not asking for a major time commitment or professional expertise (though both are welcome!). We're simply asking neighbors to help neighbors.

Maybe you come to a park cleanup day once a quarter and spend an hour raking leaves. Maybe you attend a board meeting once in a while and offer input on how to allocate funds. Maybe you check in on a neighbor who's recovering from surgery and offer to walk their dog a few times.

There's no formal application, no background checks, and no bureaucracy—just people who care about this community and want to make it a little better for everyone, humans and dogs alike.
